This week is New Zealand Sign Language Week.
Yesterday evening this tweet came through my feed:
Download a fingerspelling poster | Learn to say your name | #NZSLweek #NZSL http://t.co/ZkM7AMgW7v
— chrissiebutler (@chrissiebutler) May 4, 2015
So I clicked the link, downloaded the poster and put it on my fridge. I then quickly learnt how to sign my name (something I must admit that all my children could already do).
So what better way to start with a little bit of sign language than introducing myself. Here’s a quick video of me having a go! I don’t think I got it quite right, but I’m happy with it.
There are a lot of resources available on the New Zealand Sign Language Week page that you can use at home or in your classrooms.
Also, check out this post on the VLN: NZSL: a language we can all use.
